Hopefully i should have my hands on a swing lift by the weekend, to unload by bulk bags of logs. I have a Nissan cabstar and was wondering where would the best place to locate the swing lift on the buck, i.e front, back, nearside, off side. Any ideas.

I'd put it at the back, depending on reach and weight limits. It means you may be able to load/unload from a trailer as well and also unload that bit closer to the customers' log store (wich is nearly always difficult to acces by vehicle, why?).

I'm sure the answers are on their way but in the meantime what's your current way of unloading bulk bags?

I've only just started using bags so haven't had to unload any yet.

I like the idea of putting it on the back and being able to load/unload a trailer if need be. Thanks for the idea.

Mines on the back corner of my trailer works really well

Any pics, and did you use any special bolts to mount it ? i only ask about the bolts as a half tonne lift on four bolts seems alot.

near-side back corner i think is best, you will need hi-tensile bolts, look on the head of the bolt, you need a minimum of 8.8, go as near to a chassis rail or out-rigger as you can, you will also need to use large washers under the body floor- dont be shy... as wide as you can go!!!!!!

This swing lift will be mounted on the sub frame of the tipper body.....will this be ok?

should be strong enough i would think, ideally you need to be unload to the rear & also the near-side, make sure you have enough clearance as the bag comes down.... 900x900x900 bags go all sorts of funny shapes when full of logs!!!!!!!!
