Jesus mate glad your ok......:blushing:

come on then Tony, what you thinking, you have my attention, whats that brain of yours concluding :001_smile:

Nothing exciting im afraid, just trying to encourage others to think about the tenacity of fibres at certain times of year, this time hot dry being the poorest.

Spring flush the best time (highest flexure potential)

This is something we all know and understand, though mostly on a subconsciousness level, we alter our hinge thickness and step cuts according to the differences in fibres without really thinking about it normally.

For example, we can gob a willow branch at the most extreme angles and turn the branch through degrees that few others will allow, lawsons being one other example. Or beech being the other extreme, but ash are a great tree for experimenting with this if we want to understand and get to grips with differences in fibre strengths form youth to senescence and season to season.

The tree appeared in perfectly good health the union did not have any signs of decay or other symptoms i would usually be careful of, the photos aren't of the best quality i believe it was because of the previous pruning of the tree accompanied with the lever effect of my line pulling away from the tree as i moved to prune the house side, Thanks for the good wishes thought i would post as i know its not often it happens, and this thread would be a bit different from the best rope, boots etc threads. Climb safe everyone
