Rope access nuts should comply with IRATA. Not sure how a Rope Wrench would be viewed?

 

Back up systems etc.

 

:confused1: If it failed your still attached, so theres no problem surely??????

Yes you are but I was thinking more on the lines(excuse the pun) of their use of mechanical ascenders and descenders and not friction hitches.

I had a go on softbankhawks' zk-1 at the Arb show. The thing is amazing. Im pretty sure it isnt life support so if it failed you are still attached as skyhuck says and you could just pop a munter below your hitch and get down on both. Im still using my wooden one :) The adjustable one looks better though.

It takes the friction off the hitch, like a figure 8 would do but it self tends so it can always be in place on your climbing line. Its great ive been looking for something like this

if they are in a tree though its a whole different system (as we all know).

He did say he was going to show it to a rope access dude and not a tree bloke, or tree lady.

my mate is more a rope access guy than tree bloke but he does do tree climbing, albeit with far too much equipment and over complicated systems. Hes a level 3 tech years of rope experience, has taught me a few tricks about ropes and i him about trees, if he thinks its safet to use then i for something outside of tree work i will take his word on it, regulations where made to be flexed a little.....
