I still use the same pair of Felco No.2's I was given as a birthday present in 1989 - and have used them every year for the pruning of the orchard I grew up on. One new blade, otherwise original. I have used them on rather heavier stuff than you're supposed to - just take care to cut with no twist.

For a description of all models, have a look at Felco Secateurs

The no. 7, 10 and 12 have the rotating handle. Didn't liked them much when I tried them, though

Just seen the posts on secateurs - Do you know the brand Loewe from Germany? I have a pair of their anvil secateurs, which are very robust and typical, excellent German quality - web - Original LÖWE - Original Löwe

Don't know the brand, but I don't like anvil type secateurs as they tend to bruise the bark opposite the blade and you can't get in to awkward cuts, as you often need to when taking back apples etc. in a renewal pruning system.

Sorry Agg,

I wasn't advocating Anvil Secateurs, although for some jobs they are much better than bypass types. Like everyone in the Universe I have Felco, but wanted to draw attention to a good quality product from an very well established make.
