Who was the last man to hang in England

Mrs egg and me have just been watching the tudors, (a bit rough if you got caught out doing anything wrong), when we got talking about how barbaric we were years ago (or should i say are forfarthers were).

 

Anyway iirc Ruth Ellis was the last woman in England to hang (i think in 1956-1957), but who was the last man to hang and what year was it, (i'm sure it was as late as the early sixties, but apart from that i'm lost.

 

Sorry for being so sombre.
