Going to be cutting some quantity of big laurel i.e 10" dbh so wondering if it's worth keeping the timber? Would cut to 7.1 and extract on botex euro. I know the whole "wood burns water doesn't" thing but does the cyanide hang around once split and seasoned etc?

i think the cyanide is just in the leaves but i may be completely wrong on that one:confused1:

No, it's deffo in the wood; just had a tracked mulcher on sub 5" stuff and another team cut and chipping it upto 12" diameter and the stink out the chipper chute from the timber - my word! Marzipan Land it was!

We burn alot of laurel at home from the estate clearing sessions. Burns well. Can't say as I've noticed the cyanide smell once its been seasoned.

I love laurel as firewood and recommend it to customers as it's dense. I've never noticed any smell from seasoned stuff. I doubt the cyanide persists once the wood dries.
