Stem injections for elm leaf beetle is big business here. There is no argument for or against IMO, if a tree can gain health or possibly extend its life then why should we not intervene. A tree is better than no tree,and these products can only be researched in the field and over a period of time(not 1 month) we will not know until test are trialled and I'm sure mistakes and deaths may be made but it could be for a greater good.

How much does it cost to inject against a pathogen, roughly? Is is viable for more an one or two trees at a property? Does it really work? I know it's big business, but the cynic in me questions whether or not it actually works, not whether it sells well.

Depends on dbh of tree but a rough figure of $150, and yes it does work kills of the beetle and larva to stop them decimating the tree. However most of our work is ground and soil related. Also watering is a big thing here because of the weather. What you need to remember is in oz there are a lot more pests than diseases and trees behave very differently round here.plant health is very worthwhile her and we have saved magnificent trees by intervening with what fate had planned for them. I am we'll aware of the benefits of dead and dying trees in relation to the Eco system but unless the trees are saved then they are marked for fell because of the urban environment in which they stand.

It's viable on 1 tree to thousands of trees. Why would you inject one host but not another on the same site. Unless it is not affected in which a plan is drawn up to try and stop the spread,or expect the inevitable and catch it as early as pos.
