The known sites at HH & HW are pretty consistantly on Hornbeam, not know of any here on Oak.

 

This young forming lucidum (from Hornbeam) does bear a similarity though

Moreso on the second set.

 

These two sets are on opposite sides of the Oak.

 

Gotta think they're different Fung.

I generally just have the "Collins Complete guide to British Mushrooms & toadstools" on me during the day, in the office I generally use both Weber & Mathecks "Manual of wood decays" plus "Lonsdales - Principals of Tree Hazard assessment and management"

 

At home I mostly use both "Jordans encylopedia of Fungi" & "Keizers complete Encyclopedia of Mushrooms"

 

 

 

Personally, if it's for a first fung guide, go for the Collins, great size & info & only £16.99
