Fascinating getting up close and personal with these developing Lucidums.....pictured here with last years and veteran host hornbeam. Will be recording thjese until mature.

aye it were....has about 7 brackets altogether. Will keep you posted.

when they are fully developed i will pop over for a photo meself, im still trying for that "classic" image

That big bracket on hornbeam we saw was NOT a phelinus iether:blushing:

 

nor the ones on the willow that had multiples the only one we saw that was definatley igniarius was on that willow stump in the corner near the wall past the shop/resturaunt.

Two examples of brackets of Ganoderma lucidum, one species specific, i.e. "the spitting cobra lifting it's head", and one rather a-typical for the species.

Being cultivting Sparisus crispa on old cordwood from a job in 2006 the trees were condemed by me and section felled by me and have been providing me with a tasty neutrstues snack ever since, littley fry in olive oil with fresh garlic for about 3 mins making shure you wash thourally b4 cooking. YUM.

If the wood has been sustaining fruit bodies since 2006 i might suggest you condemned the tree without fully evaluating the decay first!
