A friend at work uses one of these leather creations but wants to get the bridge shortened... i tried to convince him to try out a new harness with an adjustable bridge but doesnt wanna hear it! :001_tt2::lol:

it looks fairly simple... just pop the two rivets off and re rivet on each side a little bit further along... has any body attempted this? or know of a company that can do it to a safe work standard?? for some strange reason we all think it should be done proffesionally :P

cheers, Gareth

Cut the Bridge in the Middle, fold it back on both sides untill you can get a Carabiner through the fold, locktight the Screwgate shut. Then Drill through the Doubled Bridge and put two stainless Steel Bolts with Washers on each side. Then Cut off the Excess.

Now you can tie a swanky Rope Bridge at whatever length his Heart desires.

Gareth this is very bad advice. Harnesses are built, tested, and constructed to withstand certain forces on the body. Any modifications like stated above could cause a fatal outcome with no come back on the manufacturer. Take advice to purchase a new harness which has been designed to have an adjustable bridge.

Undoubtably true about the design and testing Nigle. But I splice my own rope and tie my own knots because I don't trust other people's judgment or machinery.

Thanks for the replies.. He is smart (although won't move to a more conventional harness) and would not get it done unless weaver could do it. Was yours a do it yourself job mike or company? Cheers for the concern Nigel but i don't modify my kit! It's a work friend .. This was just a general interest thread. A short prussik would do it to be honest

I did it myself in the States Gareth. Its not unusual for Climbers to modify their Harnesses there.

Bit more thinking,bit less Rules.
