I wasnt bothered and i started the thread, we always get a little deviated, but at least this guys talking rigging!

Not trying to give anybody a hard time just thought it might have been better as a separate thread?

If they have been used for wire I would not use them on rope. There will be thousands of micro shards of metal that will ruin your rope.

my thoughts are on the cost of kit these days, and i'm looking at things that are usable but salvaged or bought cheap - or in the case of this thread - using sailing/other technologies over the years to solve our problems.

thank you for your support!

Im not a big fan of using second hand industrial grade kit, but its your party.

Majestic, I like The look of that treerunner winch but think the price seems too high, don't forget import and duty fees.

It's certainly not comparable to the GRCS.

The more i think about uses for this type of gear and read posts by GRCS users, the more uses I can see in my work place for it.

Watching Reg Coates' videos on YouTube has been very inspirational for me as previously I always thought I'd need a GRCS eight times a year. Now I'm seeing applications for it every week.

The most useful setup, as far as I can see, is the one Rupe has shown us. A winch and separate bollard either on same or different trees. Shame the bollard on the GRCS isn't optional.

Strikes me that my perfect setup will be the Ibelings Smartwinch and the Stein bollard.

That second bollard in my picture is not mine, I have borrowed it a few times and in that picture its actually my GRCS thats borrowed for the job.

I keep meaning to get round to getting someone to make me a very simple back plate that the grcs bollard could fit into so both could be used at once, and like you say, same tree or different tree is a good option to have.
