vermeer 630a stump grinder..ever used one??

I used to own/use one many years ago, they are a cracking piece of kit, huge swing on it which is far wider than my bandit 2100.

Mine was converted to diesel, but the design is bad in that the drive belt load is put directly onto the rear main bearing, causing premature wear on the bearing.

Make sure you get the tongue anchor if you can.

As for width, the wheels knock off and you can turn them around to get it through a smaller gap.

All in all a good reliable machine imo, due to the way they drop into the work you will need plenty of big boards to stop the chips flying as the skirts don't really stop much.

If you don't buy it I would be interested in it if you don't mind passing details on.

used one for years till the engine blew then got a 630B which we still use.

Imo both great machines.

Not good for domestic but great for street tree and the bigger access trees with vehicle access.

well i went on thursday, and im now the proud owner:001_smile:.. not as tidy as i thought but he has owned it from new so it came with manuals and bits, also alot of info on using it, now in the garage getting ready for respray, ready for work on monday.. :biggrin: hopefully.
