Evening all, as some of you may have seens from other posts that I put up I am a complete newb (cant even get a job in hte business yet), but am trying my ass off to get into it! Got the Cs30, doin Cs31 on 22nd june, got all PPE, completely first aid trained and hold a full clean UK driving license. But thats enough about me, the actual point of this post is to ask whether you all think that it is worth me doing the PA1 (Pesticide Application) course to better the chances of employment? I would go to do more chainsaw courses but money is an issue at the moment so cant afford to shell out £800 on the CS32 OR the £705 for the CS38!

Thankyou and goodnight

but will you need Pa 6 as well????

whatever you do will it help you get work.

Yes but so many options and really depends on who might give you a job

For 32 imo you need to be very proficient and i would personally recomend min 6 months tree work prior to doing it

some would want 38 some would want woodchipper and don,t bother.

Pole saw is not a bad cheaper one as is brushcutter

Sorry don;t think that was very helpfull:blushing:

Hi mate.

It's definately a tricky position to be in. I'd say 30,31 & 38 are the main essentials, just have a flick through arbjobs and thats the basic minimum requirment that people seem to ask for. Don't think you'd benefit from 32 at the moment as chances are you'll start off a basic member of staff on site and the more experienced guys will be dealing with the bigger stuff.

I've never found my PA1 & PA6 massively of interest to an arborist ... grounds maintenance jobs yes its worth its weight in gold. But its just something that might tip the balance in the grand scheme of things.

My advice would be focus on getting yourself in a position where you can get your 38 .... with your other qualificiations and first aid certificate, your well on the way to being 'employable'.

ive been giving it more thought and I probably will just save the cash and do the 38. Odd question i know but is it essential to have the 31 before doin the 38 or not? Im booked on to do the 31 so it dont matter either way I was just curious. the 38 looks like a good course, Im a rock climber anyway so making the step to tree climbing seems like a pretty good transition

nope 38 is just climbing and aerial rescue.

You need 31 to do 39
