whats the best firewood ash/beech

I like ash as a fuel though. In our Esse it builds a superb ember base and will give out heat for hours, even if not refueled. I like to mix ash and very dry oak for the perfect burn.

 

Can't always get it though. At the moment we are getting domestic hot water from pallets as we get loads through the business. Gas boiler is switched off so at least it's free. Got a big pile of oak, ash and some fir drying for winter but it's not ready yet so pallets it is.

HI stereo thats the way mate no large gas bill here o no my last years bill was £225 not good but the brit gas still take £40 a m not any more it stop now we are in debit £125 not good all the best jon

Sell mainly beech i find it easy to split and seasons fast. But if left too long in the woods before stacking it goes spalted which is rotting rather than seasoning!

 

An old lady told me the other day that her stove installer told her all her wood had to have a cut face on every side so she had given away all her round firewood! Does anyone else have any stove installer stories? The big one in norfolk is they tell everyone not to burn softwood, so i don't have one softwood customer cos the installer is always right.

ash for splitting, beech is better for burning unless you want to burn something green and its ash!

same here in the north installer says only burn hardwood i like any type of wood
