Ashman, M.R. & Puri, G. (2002) Essential Soil Science. Blackwell Science is a definate get and for other bits of soils things i found these helpful

Bowes, B.G. (1996) A Colour Atlas of Plant Structure. London: Manson

-Brilliant pictures of the plant anatomy, a good companion for the Plant Form and Function topic (really helpful)

Mauseth, J. D. (2003) Botany: An Introduction to Plant Biology. 3rd Edition. Jones and Bartlett, London

 

Pallardy, S.G. (2008) Physiology of Woody Plants, 3rd Edition. San Diego, California: Academic Press is a must IMO

 

when it came to websites there seemed to be no decent ones (like the soils) but lots of little ones over the place, the journals (you can access them with an athens account are also very useful but its a case of searchuing them as and when is needed
