A bloke at work today showed me a picture of what looked like laetiporus, but on a Robinia

looked in the fungi directory and Robinia isn't a common tree that it grows on, need to get the pic off him so i can show and tell, but does it? (grow on robinia)

Rob,

In The Netherlands, after Quercus, Robinia is the second tree species most often colonized by L. sulphureus. In Robinia, the mycelium completely brown rots the central wood column, after which the tree holds itself up by strengthening the connecting zones between the outer wood columns, which in their turn each connect a major root to a major branch, creating a "bouquet" of several single one root-one branch "trees" with a hollow inside.

Photo L. sulphureus on Robinia.

It does like Tony states, commonly associate with Robinia here Rob, but usually more commonly on the ones listed in the directory.

Not sure there's enough space to list every species on there :001_rolleyes:

This one was from a few days ago at work.

Canopy is heavily weighted with Ivy.

We'll be putting the Digi micro probe into it to give us a clearer picture, but at the very least it will have the Ivy removed & be reduced (if not removed)
