We've a big job to take down 13 large poplars - are there any climbers out there with lots of crane experience who would be willing to muck in, climb some and give me some pointers.

Any one know of decent crane and timber wagon hire in the east midlands..

Does any one want a load of poplar wood or any one who might!

PM me, cheers..

It needs to be done end of september...

Give Buzz a Pm about the trees. If you pay him a mobilisation fee, I'm sure he'll bring a massive chipper and an artic up to clear the lot.

I'll give you a hand with the craning if you like.

Ben will talk it through with you man on Wed am. Not sure you need a crane mate, depends on how much ground damage they'll tolerate etc.

We don't need a crane but wouldn't it speed it up? Having never used one I don't know. Especially for the butts. Just pick them up and lie them down. Less sawing/sawdust etc..

It would also be good experience for a when I NEED a crane.. At £280 a day +VAT I guess it needs to help 3 men's worth. I might get one for a days to give it a try.

Depends what other kit you have on site. If its just for the butts would it be better to strip all the trees to poles, then bring the crane in to do all the butts in one fell swoop?
