Thanks, for the comments and look forward to meeting some of you's at the APF, I'm going there to win that one!

The winners of the open comp was voted by the carvers and I dont think they would of liked me winning!

Mick Burns is an excellent large scale sculptor and i do admire his talent, i copied his sea shells when i started carving.

Mick lives not far from me and i occasionally see him at the bar. I dropped a couple of large pieces of timber at his yard a few weeks ago. He seems to like doing the dragonfly thing as he has done a few now. Must have been a hard choice. I really liked the bird n books piece. The simplicity appealed.

Incidentally I drove past you on tuesday on the A68 in our mog. Let me know what timber your after and see if I can sort some out. I have a couple of pallets of Yew cord and one full of cherry burrs and stuff, but its only small diamter, about 10 - 14".

I seen you, you passed me twice where were you taking the loads? 10" up is ok with me, I dont have a yard yet but I will be asking local farms for a bit land and a barn or somewhere to rent and carve on. I will be away the next two weeks as from in the morning but I will be in touch when i'm back.

All of the carvings were carved from one piece of wood but you can saw your wood up and join pieces togeather to add your dragon fly wings and things, mine is all one piece. Thanks, Tommy

The loads were going to a landscaper in Tow law, we did a site clearance job in Allensford and were moving the chip off site. (All 40 tonne of it)

I agree with mozza. I can see why mick came first, but you should have had second i reckon, as do my missus and Olly.

With a little more experience I'm embarrased now and I take it all back what I wrote, its a fair do the carvers vote for the winners.

Comps are too serious and the results should be taken with a pinch of salt' every one has there own oppinion'
