yep, tools on rope but also as, false crotch attachment for pole rescue, as tie off for flying capstan (with running bowline), to stop rigging ropes running all the way up to a lower block, as a stop to give me slack when I'm throwing my rope over a branch with a lockjack.

Easy to tie

generally tied mid way on a rope

Probably the most common way to attach a saw to a climbers rope.

Taught on climbing courses.
