chainsaw porting

Hello everyone

i recently have sent my stihl ms460 to petemate390xp where it was turned from an great saw, into an amazing saw,

if anyone is considering having a saw "ported" i would strongly recommend it,it has loads of power and is able to run upto a 28" bar so would be great for use in a tree at the end of a day when fatigue becomes a factor, i am seriously considering getting my other saws done, due to how impressive my 460 is:biggrin:

I can highly recommend Pete for the modifications, pete communications through out the process was great, and always more than happy to answer any question i had about the process

i can not say how happy i am with it. thankyou pete

Hi just wondered if the power increase would shorten the saws overall life span ? ,also do your measure the power output before and after the tuning ? If so what was the increase , thanks , I have considered getting a saw ported any advise & info app

use a good quality 2 stroke oil & keep the revs low as possible until it has warmed up, over-revving a cold engine is the worst thing you can do....

a ported engine will be reliable if you look after it.

it totally depends o how much power you want out of the saw, i went for a modification where the life span of the engine stayed the same, but the power was increased. It totally depends on what you want from the saw, just send pete a quick pm and he will talk all about it to you:thumbup:

I am planning a little dalliance with a 346XP very soon, just done the muffler mod, have gathered some useful information about exhaust/inlet ports, piston modification, transfer ports and squish heights so will do a posting with a blow by blow account very soon.

It will make a change from fixing saws and will be a nice useful addition to the stable but may clash with my modded 345!
