The mobile phone app that can identify a tree by its leaf

Recommended Posts

I found it interesting that they show the "fruit" of our Enlish oak as a gall, rather than an acorn.

(just to prove I have actually looked through it )

I noticed that on one of the little games that the app has :confused1:

And I could use a field guide if I was actually identify a tree but I was just messing about to see if it worked. The field guide still holds a special place on my shelf, it's not obsolete yet.

I think it will be quite handy if you're out on site and need an emergency tree ident'. Otherwise, for me too it will still be the geeky joy of looking through all my much under used book collection.

As much as apps are literally for everything. I've never been too keen on the apps available regarding trees!

Hama you may find an iPad more useable, using the app called penultimate which is a handy notepad you do with your finger, much quicker than pen and paper and you can email a single page or a 50 page or more notebook as a PDF.

The apps are coming. The Market needs to be there!
