Hi,

I have 2 olive trees (europea) in seperate pots .... both seemed to survive the winter ok but 1 of them is now loosing leaves badly ... seems to be some new growth but the other 1 of the same age in an identical pot is flowering and going real well !

I have only had them a year or 2 ...too much water or not enough ? ..or something else ?

Any ideas ?

Cheers

I had exactly the same the end of the year before last, same age trees, same location all but a few metres, same pots, soil etc etc. The tree that was suffering, I cut right back beyond the dead and the dying.

The following year and this year the severely pruned tree has grown wonders and now looks the most happy of the two?

Can't and wouldn't guarantee it but might be worth giving the struggling one a good hard prune.

I've since found out that olives do not like a windy position, could this be your situation?

Good luck.

Hi, thanks for the comments ... if there is root death .. should I leave it be ...or would it be worth giving it a bigger pot and better compost and giving it some love ? ....worried that if i prune it ... I am likely to prune the only stuff that is living !!
