Grillon rope replacement

Got a new bit of rope for the petzl grillon provided to me today but it doesn't come with a snap hook, just an eye splice for a carabiner. I prefer a snap hook for my flipline but I'd need to put it on with a mallion rapide or something. Anyone got around this another way?

Gaffer wouldn't let us use a home made splice anyway but would have liked to go on that course. Going to keep the snap hook and at some stage make up a lanyard. What diameter and type of rope is compatible with the grillon - I know to look at the manual but haven't got it right now!

Easiest way.

Cut the eye off, melt the end and tie it on the carabiner/snap hook with your knot of choice.

How did we manage before spliced eyes?

Also you can slide the black sheath off and chuck it and then it can't jam in the grillon.
