I've heard various horror stories regarding fasttracs i am a heavy plant fitter and i would avoid one one lad spent so much on repairs he sold them back to the dealer then leased them back and still came out on tops

Better off spending your money on a tractor with either trailer or roof crane.

 

Turning circle is just shocking, four wheel steer is pants, and that's if it even works, or the wheels even go back in line properly.

 

Driven them a lot in past and present. Gearboxes are horrible and clunky.

 

I would rather sacrifice the road speed and get a tractor.

what model(s) were they? i heard the early ones were good but after that they were well designed but poorly put together, are the newer ones any better?

Stick with the mog. Having worked on both the mog is the better all round machine, i know mog bits are expensive but you usually need less of them, early fastracs like the 1105 and 1135 were shockingly underpowered the quality parkinsons wiring looms WILL catch fire, just a matter of time, the hand brake will let go and cause devestation, however jcb handlers are pretty good. But usually most fastscraps end up like".........

It's the other way round, I did all my training at JCB on Fastracs from the very first day, I could take gearboxes & engines out with my eyes closed.

 

Perkins in the 125 & 145 were underpowered & the Cummins in the 185 had cooling, cylinder head & associated problems. The synchros in the range box use to disintegrate. Newer models had clutch pack troubles, electrical components failing, prop shafts came off & they ate brakes. Good concept but cheap components, needless to say these kept me in work for years!

 

Can't comment on the latest versions as I have no experience.
