Stihl drill BT45

That's confirmed my thoughts, I've an 18v makita ni-cad. So an excuse for a li-on drill is fine with me.

I seem to pick up a fair bit or recreation infrastructure work so it's possibly upto 100 holes a week. I'm aiming for a mini digger with an auger but until then a good petrol auger will be great!

Thanks

I do a fair bit of fencing work and to be quite honest I think the BT45 was worth every penny and is infinately better than my makita, especially on hardwood jobs. There's nothing worse than hearing your last battery starting to fade half way through a job.

I only use hex bits. As others have suggested, there is no hammer action so you'll only burn out SDS bits.

i bought the 6" and 3" auger when i got mine, the 6" is not much use really especially if there is a lot of stones. Great though if you have a lot of 1 litre pots to plant and good at mixing up soil/compost/fertilizers pre planting.

The 3" is great for planting bulbs. Far better and quicker than those hand things.

On both augers the replacement tips wear out really quickly. (about £7 each)

The chuck is a 13mm standard. You will need an adapter for using the augers as the bolts are different sizes.
