What exactly do you mean by "the knot became loose"?

Was it not loose in the first place? How could you tell?

Yep that exactly it. It was tight in the first place because it worked, and the instructor tied it first time anyway. It didnt happen every single time i used it just every now and then. But yes essentially it became loose. It must not have been dressed properly, or I must have been pulling down awkwardly to come down and subsequently it came loose?

My bad Im confusing at the best of times :laugh1: the knot came loose a couple of times, after coming loose when I tied it the instructor then tied it and it worked. Then when I tried myself again it was coming loose once more and I couldn't see what was different and neither could he.Thats the point he said it might be the rope.

Jesus mate that's a bit shocking ! For your instructor say 'it might be the rope ' is not enough of a good enough reason for me ! Is all I can say is stick to a prussic for a bit until you can competently tie the knot for yourself and don't have to rely on someone to check it for you.
