dismantled this tree yesterday for ian flatters - (target trees) ian up in the horsechestnut opposite, frosty off here lowering for me, all abit knackered from the weekend comps but never mind we got there in the end had a near miss (my fault for completely under estimateing how much the stem end of a log weighed and it flipping in the video. ian will probs add pics ill add all i have, 1st pic is where the high rigging pulley was, i was shocked when i found that crack up there. 2nd and 3rd pic are start of the 2nd day moved 8-10 tons of timber today and 1 load of sawdust today very hot work.

How are you finding the black and red Marlow ?

Have you tried using a tag line wrapped once or twice around a branch below you to reduce the amount of swing. It does slow proceeding down abit, but it means that you do not have to worry about close building etc. when large lumps are flying.

i really like the marlow ive been useing it for about 2 years now and still like it.

 

we had a tag line on that big lump of timber near the end. all the rest was way above the house or wasnt going to swing far enough to cause a problem on the house.

Nice job but crap music. I'd agree that more use of a tagline would have given you a lot more control. Not just to avoid the building but to ensure the pieces fall further away from you and to help lay the stuff out on the deck. I've had pieces swing back onto me and onto my ropes in the past when I should have used a tagline.
