biomas is classed as normal woodchip from soft or hard wood and chips are supposed to be no bigger than 50mm... a 6-9 ninch chipper is best for that size... mines 12-14 inchs and is ok when its dead sharp but when its bit blunt it shreds it rather than chips... i personaly have never had problem with chip length..

£6 ton i get from stobarts

I think Stobarts give us £9 a ton now.. We were offered similar or possibly more from Boomco but we've been using stobarts for a while now and it's easier to stick with what you know if it works.

You have to have clean chip to get the max price, any sneaky logs, rakings etc and they will reject it. They say you can have it back but have to pay for the haulage. If your not sure of the condition they can take it and sort it but you get less per ton.

They took 3 truck loads a couple of weeks ago. We get a local farmer to load £250 and he can do 3 arctics in a day no problem.

It's not going to make you rich but we were paying to spread it on the feilds a few years ago... We've stopped giving it to the horsey ladies, unless it really suits us.

anyone know how much fits on an artic e.g. stobarts etc? i have a 600metre long x 6m high x3m wide leylandii hedge to remove later this year and a huge artic would be just the job to chip the lot into. decent access too, is it feasable? i'm not interested in making money from the chip.. just want rid of it.
