does it matter what kind of wood and the size of the chips

chips supposed to be no bigger than 50mm but mine is lot bigger normaly and they dont say anything.. had load rejected couple weeks ago cos it was too old though... any type of wood as long as its arb waste... not shredded pallets for instance..

In some woods was working in recently they had chestnut stacked roadside which they sold the chipping at £19.50 per tonne so I was to hold approximately 200 t was chipped and loaded. One of the estates I work on gets £75 per tonne delivered into the hopper of the boiler

Comparing apples with pears there John.

G50 spec chip, delivered to a power station, is currently around £70 a tonne I believe.

Wet stringy tree surgeon's chip, full of leaf and rakings, collected from site or yard, is worth a fraction of that. If its composted or semi-composted, virtually worthless.

Clean wood chip with no leaf, rakings, or logs in, is worth a bit more, but you still have to deduct the haulage from the collected price.
