Poplar just snapped out!!

We have a row of Poplars in one of the fields surrounding us which are on a humongous lean (I have no idea how they're all still standing) and I'm talking a 45 Degree angle.

Just got home from a quick visit to the pub and one of them has completely fallen over. No signs of root rotting disease as far as I know and no winds tonight... but they're located in a terribly waterlogged area from our overflow and their root plate is rather unstable so no doubt that'll be it.

First thing tomorrow morning, a nice load of Poplar... lovely!

In Twenty plus years of dealing with trees, I've only ever seen one tree blown over in high winds. It was a 60ft Horse Chestnut and was marked for removal due to bleeding canker. When it happened it was like watching in slow motion, it made one hell of a noise creaking and groaning at it went. :scared1:

I know I'd love to see a tree come over on it's own as long as no ones up it at the time:lol:

Never mind up it. Try under it. Scared me when a Sweet Chestnut fell over about 15"dbh fell over and lodged it's self between the tractor and the timber trailer.

Didn't really see it other than hurd a creek then a bang on the roof. Nasty
