MMA is not a system though is it(although some are now making it such), its a general concept. Arts have been been around since pankration in 646BC that use all ranges in the fight.

Kali being another that has 12 sub section arts within the main art incorporating all ranges of the fight, any warrior art had stand up and ground fighting techniques because they knew the fight could go anywhere.

Thai boxing deserves massive respect as a total devastating art in its own right and most of your top class mma fighters were acomplished thai fighters.

i like anything where they fight:thumbup:

I never said art I said system and that's what it is you kinda argued with yourself there.

Am not saying it's an art but you can't argue that it's not a system!

It's different aspects of martial arts put together and evolved into a system of MMA.

You certainly know your stuff Robert:thumbup: I'm no expert but I wish those grapplers weren't so good dictating where the fight goes:sneaky2: my mate has had three fights and lost three but only been punched three times! All fights have been against grapplers he's getting frustrated haha even his last fight ended just as he got the mount and was ground and pounding poor lad hope he gets a stand up fighter this time
