A friend of mine in Oz refers to it as the " Widowmaker" because of its propensity to drop limbs quite easily. They've lost a fair few cattle that have sheltered below them in foul weather:thumbdown:.From what I hear they grow over here very quickly because of the wetter climate compared to that in Oz.The seedpods they drop smell lovely but when they break down smell a lot like cat pee.

I was paid in part on a landscaping job with a few loads that were dropped in October/November , 8 of them about 60-70 foot.I had cut them down to 4 and 6 foot lengths originally to transport and spent the last two days ringing them down to 4" to 6 " rings, lovely smell.Reason why is I saw some guys splitting some large rings from the same trees on site a few weeks after felling and boy was it tough going. They gave me a few for burning back then which I did a few weeks ago. They did burn , slowly but a good heat.Judging by the weight of yesterdays lot they wont be near seasoned for the coming winter but I'll be splitting them next week whilst they are still somewhat green. The bark peels away very easily aswell.Should have enough stocked up for the next few years:thumbup1:
