i agree running a red light, even on a push bike is bad - it could result in a car swerving round you and causing an accident....but lighten up, i thought it was funny.

i dislike 80% of the police i have come across - they have been arrogant control freaks, who can't handle anyone talking back at them in an intelligent way and end up lashing out (like on the video), as they think that's the only way they can get back in control.

this cunstable was quite stupid in particular.

The cop looked a bit fazed by the camera & attitude, should have arrested him,but he was just doing his job,no control attitude,so why couldnt the light jumper just say sorry & get a wrist slap instead of wasting police time(which we pay for),and risking involving others in an accident........

he should have arrested him

The cop had no rights under the law to arrest him. In fact doing so, could have ended his career. The camera man was illustrating a common misunderstanding of the difference between statute and law. The road traffic act (or your version of it) is a statute and as such you are not obliged to follow it. You can submit to following it and this is how society works. The camera man isn't a law student, he is a exercising his rights as a free man. It's pretty interesting stuff. You can check it out here:

and here for an UK version (which is pretty much exactly the same thing):

The truth is basically that a policeman has 2 roles. One is as a Guardian of the Peace - Common Law. Here he has power to stop you doing harm to someone. He can only stop you causing harm he cannot punish you for trying. He can however arrest you for having hurt someone. The other role is as an Agent of the Law - Statutes. Or law in legalese which you can submit to, but you can also choose to ignore. The lie is that they do everything they can to make you think you have to submit to it.

sorry, but he didn't know his job and did you see the bit at the end? when he realised he was out of his depth and tried to gain control by the only means most of them can think of?
