Nice RG BenR. I believe the instructions you seek are:

http://www.samsonrope.com/site_files/DB_C1_EndEnd.pdf

Thats a Class 1 Double braid end to splice (thats if sirius is a class 1 double braid). Has 85% strength rating according to samson, Toss reckons about 80% (I prefer Toss's instructions on this splice).

I wonder if the bury lengths are too long to use the splice in this configuration? The loop would have to be bigger if they are making the RG harder to retrieve. You've got a fid bury length for each end, that's 2 fids in total for the splice. Maybe a double fishermans is best in this configuration or a stiched splice (i.e. teufelbergers slaice)?

Cheers

I'm inclined to agree.

A spliced loop is as permanent as two eyes spliced onto the Pinto.

The knots (on the prussic or on the Pinto) allow the gear to be disassembled - I think that was quoted as one of the issues.

The one difference I see between the spliced loop and directly-spliced eyes would be when the prussic isn't loading equally on each eye - a loop would allow the pulley to find the 'bottom' and equalise the load on both sides.

Yea, i'm not sure if I will bother. It retrieves so well already, and it can still be taken apart.. I will see :)

Edit: just looked at the instructions and with the length needed, I think you're right it will be too much. If I feel like splicing it eventually I'll just splice onto each side plate. Fancy having a go at that end to end splice though!
