mystery tree

At the risk of getting needy, can anyone say what this could be?

 

Found it in the grounds of a victorian mental asylum in Hellingly East Sussex whilst pricing some additional works. :thumbup1:

 

leaves are persistant and thick waxy etc, small yellowish buds.... check out the photos.

 

**edit** the tree was around 15-20ft with considerable girth, i didnt get a good look but the bark was a little platey. im showing a team some works nearby there next week so will grab more photos. :-) dont worry its not coming down.

Just copied and pasted it into google Janey and damn your good. Exactly the same leaves.

 

A little knowledge and a good ident' book by the laptop is a mean combination :lol:

 

I had to ID some N solanderi when I was surveying last year and they have a lot of similar characteristics.

That places is still going then. I've - er - visited there (a long time ago)!

Well there isn't much of it left now lots of new houses.:thumbdown: i used to play in there as a child, smashing up asbesdos, starting fires and running along the roofs.
