payed £250 for a reconditioned one :001_smile:

Some right jewy sods on ebay. One I saw was nearer 800 quid reconditioned! I've had a hydro saw on my mind for some time. The only chance I had of buying one of them motors, and I made the mistake of telling them about the hydro saw idea. They refused, incase there was an injury, as did another bloke who was going to sell me a broken chainsaw for parts

If i was building the saw again i wood prob try it a different way. like it works fine but i wood try getting a cheaper motor ( doesnt need to have all them RPM's ) and gear it up with a belt and pully system or chain and sprocket, but a big pully on the hydraulic motor and a small pully on the chainsaw shaft and a belt between them. sumthin like that

your idea is great, i dont think the 'gearing' idea is great thou, belts, bearings etc = more to go wrong, it's easy to control the speed of a hyd motor with a variable 'speed controller, the less moving parts the better
