I dont think he meant a single line. He said "second line" I took that to mean that his strop is long enough to be used as second, doubled line.

 

Your right, a positioner is not good on a single line, but I dont think that is what we are talking about here.

yes mate my strops 6 meters and i use it as a short double line, i might get a 10 meter one too. or using a distel could i choke it round a branch and use the full 6 meter as a single line?

No, a distel is not good on a single line either, it will work but its not great.

 

A "Cinch" is the best thing on a single line, and actually my favorite as a lanyard adjuster ful stop. Much prefer it over the positioner.

 

I have about 5-6m lanyard but half of it is daisy chained and clipped up on the harnes so never in the way.

hey ben sorry gona slighty move the thread on a differenet direction but still sort of same

 

rupe how have you found the cinch to work with your land yard is it easy to use doesnt twist it self i'm curious as i am looking at starting to get my own kit and trying to get recomendations for certain parts. any pics of it working would be great.:thumbup:

Pics of me actually using a lanyard? That might be tricky.

 

I think for first climbing kit, the cinch is bit OTT really. A side prussik or distel is perfectly good. Get climbing not spending, good thing I'm not a retailer.
