mud terrains

my bfg all terains just havnt worked for me this winter, so im after some mud tyres. was after some bfg muds but 235/70/16s are proving hard to source. so im after some ideas. gotta be fairly good on road noise as my pick up is my daily driver

How are they hard to find- your local tyre dealer, or just not available (they dont make them in some sizes). If you like i can check with my suplier....about the cheapest place i have found anywhere, including on line.

my local dealer said that they are having trouble sourcing them, im not sure they like producing the 16s, if i had 15" rims id be sorted. can you try your guy mate

No probs. I run 16 inch rims, as do all landrover defenders i thnk. Ill call tomorrow. 285/75/16, £137 per corner fitted including before VAT rise. Might give you an idea for your size.

I'm running Cooper stt's on my 130,they last well,good on the mud,and not noisy.

Get some kumho KL71's John, great ride and better in snow and mud than a non unidirectional tyre sucg as the bfg, Quieter too I have been well impressed with mine. I cant vouch for longevity but they are a well recognised brand so shouldn't be bad.

i have heard that mud terrains in general are hard to get hold of especially bfg

another one here with the cooper stt's but unfortunately i dont believe they make them as small as your size, or not in your specific size anyway. try camskill or tyrespec.co.uk

ONe of the benefits of BFGs is that they are a division of michelin (basically the off road part of the company) and hence have the pedigree of the worlds best tyre manufacturer, with all the knowledge that brings, as well as unrivalled longevity....which is probably why the utilities use them.

I thought the utilities used them because they are an endorsed factory option!

 

as for unrivalled longevity... not sure id put money on that these days.

 

IMO the non-siped nature of the tread make them daft on road in the wet. better tyres out there without having to pay the scene premium. to each his own though
