We had a timber wagon come in today to remove some oak off site and he was telling me he might have to sell his wagon and get a job because he's struggling because of fuel prices. He leaves home at 4 in the morning and gets in at 8pm. He reckons there is loads of timber being processed and and the mills are screaming out for it but the fuel cost is crippling him, sad to see.

i was drying grain on the farm and we were buying in red around 11p a litre !!!!

Happy days!!!

I remember buying 5000 litres of heating oil to fill my new tank in 1998 for 7.75p per litre

back in the late 80's I was buying 20,000 litre loads of derv for under 18p per litre and red for less than 6p per litre. Haulage income per truck (tippers) was higher then, over 20 years ago, than it is now. That is in nominal not real terms.
