Fairly new here.

I have a Tanaka TCS 3301S top handled saw. I acquired it from a friend some time back. I am not qualified/certified to use this as I don't climb. However, and I'll be honest, I have used it on occasion (both hands) because the light weight and small bar makes it easy to use for extended periods on small tree work. I try my best to operate legally/safely so I will have to trade/sell this machine. Can anybody recommended a lightweight, good quality chainsaw, maybe 13" bar for light work?

depends how much you want to spend.....i wouldnt personally bother with any saw smaller than a stihl ms261 or a husky 346, although there are semi-pro saws beneath these 2 that will run a 13" bar no worries. depends on your budget really

spot on steve, i wouldnt either,, like steve says if you have the money the husky 346xp is a daym good saw or the stihl ms261 which others will vouch for is a good saw,, i havnt used one yet,, but these saw altho there small are still heavy, if u dont have that amount to spent the ms192 is the lightest saw stihl make, alot of the guys on here like the top handled version of it

Yes, depends on budget, both the MS260/026 and the 346XP are pro saws and dictate a premium price and high residuals. My usual weapon of choice is a trusty 345 Husky - light with great AV....and a muffler mod:thumbup:

They go for £150 - 175 and are miles better than the homeowner MS181/171 Husky 141 136 series - they aint a 346 or 260 but I like mine lots.

So from Mad Max 1 - "Speeds just a question of money - how fast do ya want to go":thumbup1:
