Ford ranger tipping back

Hi everyone. How difficult do you think it would be to get a standard ( non tipping ) single cab ranger load bed to tip like the proper tipper does? Having the wheel arch bumps there wouldn't really bother me much. I just wondered as the proper tipper looks shorter in length and the sides aren't so high. What do you reckon?

hiya if you have a look at my Avatar on the left hand side of the page you wil se my ranger tipper - the bed is longer and as you can see the sides are much taller , this chan be achieved quite simply . i would not bother trying to make the origional tub tip as it requires alot of stiffeners fitting , a tipping chassis , and would be more hastle and probably just as costly as building a propper decent tipper

a normal ranger does have the same chassis bud , but to make it a tipper you need to lay a tiper chassis onto of the main chassis , basicly works like a hinge with your tipper body welded to the top . if you were try to make your standard tub a tipper you would still need to make the tiping chassis to bold to the chassis and then make the runers to bold the tub to the tipper chassis , the tub would not sit down like it currently does and in all honesty would look pretty daft .

Ah, shame. I like the standard bodywork better. See the american ones that tip look the same as the standard pickups. As far as I've seen anyhow. Not ford I'll admit :(

i think you may have seen the tipping pickup bed liners that are common in the u.s... you might be able to get one of them for a ranger? doubt you'd have much payload left mind

this kinda thing - [ame]

No it wasn't one of them, though that looks very clever. One was a Dodge Ram and the other was a Chev/GMC. Saying that I wouldn't have much payload left as they are all well over 3.5t carrying weights. Thats the great thing with the american beasts and american driving licence ( or it was ) compared with UK. A Uk standard car licence is useless apart from being able to drive a car or an overloaded transit twincab.
