I need to access a tricky site next week. Driving the landy in is likely to tear up the grass. I am thinking of using a ground anchor and winching the truck and chipper along to reduce damage. What ground anchor do you suggest? The screw in ones are cheap at around £40 but are they any good?

put a 3" screw into a piece of wood and try pulling it out lol. Never used the big cork screws, heard they are old school awesome, i have a big cylage bale spike i hit in with a sledge hammer, keep the large nut by the threads so not to wreck them, stick a pulley on it to save friction.

I would take six scaffold boards and drive over them moving the rear set to the front etc, you wont leave a mark.

Thats a good idea, thankyou. I would need to buy the boards but would rather spend out on an anchor as I need to tie the chipper off on a slope the same job

if you speak to a scaffolding company they might let you have some that are no longer in service if your driving over them they don't have to be the best

The ground anchors do work.

Make sure you put it in at an angle facing away from what you are attaching to. It will move a bit but will stop and be secure after.

If that fails see if you can hire '18 stoner' for a day and anchor off him.
