The led grow lamps are 90% more efficient than HPS (high pressure Sodium) they actually use very little energy, hardly worth bothering about.

I think growers will be moving onto the led systems very soon, although the better ones are quite expensive at the moment

I'm not sure about the police using the heat/light cameras but almost positive it's the power companies using the thermal cameras to detect dodgy power lines and such. Saw it on tv a while back.

As for the growing, are you watering/feeding by hand or automated? Automation is a BIG time saver and the plants will thrive:thumbup:

Been doing tomatoes and chillies under lights for a while and have it sussed now:001_cool:

Ended up buying a 250w HPS sodium lamp as the led's were rubbish

Just thrown all my cutting in the little wagon back this morning under the lamp, snow and all

Put in a thermostat to monitor highest and lowest temps and have put them straight onto 18 hours on 6 hours off. It might shock them a little but they'll survive.

I've left the door unlocked so the busies can have a peek should I not be in

I think if this works, there'll be a good market for large cheap Yew hedging and even start growing my own replacement trees etc instead of having to buy them in at container grown prices

Buy trees as plugs and force grow them :001_smile: or maybe it's not good to force grow a deciduous tree?

The main reason hydroponics exists is because the specific plants they grow are of high value, and can pay off the leccy and water bills! Stolen electrics the main reason the rozzers would stop by. I'd use the yews for a test run...
