Roost Shooting

Now the pheasant season has finished the local estates we shoot on are allowing us to go and roost shoot in the woods. We had 11 pigeons and a Jackdaw this afternoon. Would have been more but the pigeons were sky high. Here is a pic of this afternoons bag. Will keep you updated as the roost shooting goes on until april.

Gonna be having pigeon stuffed duck breast to tea tomorrow night. Mum will be having just duck breast. Not gonna tell her that the ducks were shot tho. We had pheasant and partridge casserole last night. My sister doesnt like my dad and i bringing shot stuff home but will still eat it.

I never bother hanging piddys or duck. I'm back on rabbit shooting now the pheasant season has ended.

Miroku Mk38 12 bore O/U. Got a semi auto Beretta Teknys 3 shot as well but normally only use that for decoying and duck shooting.

u carry on with the roosting for a long time? we normally finish end of march. last night was pretty poor due to lack of wind. i still managed 4 woodies, 1 squidge and 3 rats tho. the rats were taken with air rifle back at the yard while waiting for the others to get back

We normally call it quits at the first weekend in april as the birds will be starting to get in the swing of things for spring. We have a vermin shoot on two of the estates we go to. Normally split into two teams one team go to one end and the other team head to the other we just sweep through blatting squirrel dreys and having any woodies that come over. We have a few people stood out the front in case any ginger critters and jays come out.
