Tom,, defender not a big seller in the states because it's not allowed to be sold there,,,D3 sells well to those that like "british, and culture, and things that last longer than 5 minutes" :thumbup:

 

and the taunton sales guy was trying to sell you a current model,, of course he's going to tell you that the new one is years away,,,

This is fairly old news TBH. LRO magazine ran this story a few years ago, with early design pics of the defender to be. It looked a bit like a defender/ freelander hybrid to me, and as Ad15 says, its gonna be based on a similar chassis arrangement as the D3. Death nell if you ask me.

got a year old tdci its crap, i wish i had kept the tdi i sawped for it! the build quality is worse, done nearly 30k box wines terribly and although its fast the economy is crap, much worse than mrs' td5 ,dealer back up is none existant and landrover don't care.

i'm going jap next time!

mine did that at 35k and they replaced clutch and gear box... always found my dealer very helpful.. they ust put complete new leather interior in mrs sport cos drivers seat had slight wear on it.. and 6 months ago they recalled my range rover 2 yrs after warranty ran out to put font diff in it.. when i had land cruiser was hard enough to get em to do anything under warranty without a dozen calls [ admitadly i did 330k miles in lanny with no sign of gearbox going and interior exellent after those miles]
