We had a tree come down in our village only blocking one half of the road ..

 

You could still get past it Tom, that's why the LA would have left it till monday, couldn't let their cups of tea go cold for a low priority job

 

Woody.....we have all done little freebie jobs and the odd tree blocking the road job, just dont let them run you ragged and take advantage, there's always the danger of people taking advantage of your good nature.

 

You are just a telephone number to big authorities and you will not get any thanks.

If your going to do it, your better off just emailing your LA and police with your qualifications, and health and safety policy telling them you will come out for a standard rate and not charge silly emergency call out rates.

 

Just ringing the police will get you nowhere, as far as they are concerned you could be some diy bloke with a B&Q chainsaw and a pair of ladders, wanting to have a go and get killed in the process.

 

They wont call you out because then they would be liable for employing you should anything go wrong and you turn out to have no qualifications for storm damage trees

love it, we do alot of road clearence for west berks council, and we soon discovered that in high winds its best to just leave telehandler with timber grab strapped on the plant lorry, hardly need a chainsaw:thumbup:

 

i turned up at a big ash couple of years ago in a pick up in front of the handler, copper laughed at me and asked me what i intended to do:laugh1:, my old man turned up and didnt even have to get out of the cab, gotta love machinery:thumbup:
