Some recent pictures of the currently open stretch near the town centre. Judging by the amount of litter on the slopes we are going to be litter picking on Friday with the trailer as there is loads.

I took out the Walnut that was by the bridge in the first pic :)

Sure that footpath on the left leading up to the road wasn't there though - is it new?

Over the last week we have had a team of guys come from Weymouth. The are all on the Future Job Fund (FJF) which give people who have been o nthe dole for 6 months the chance to work. We've had 3 people via the job centre who are paid by the council through the FJF. We had two days on a section of old railway line (trailway) at Charlton Marshall. We cleared out a section of small trees with chainsaws, bow saws, loppers and clearing saws. The following two days we spent on the Blandford section of the North Dorset Trailway. We got them to clear the smaller stuff so we could get in with chainsaws and remove the bigger bits. Here are the pictures before and after two days of work. I was only in one day as the first day i was ill.

HI MATT nice job there mate ps i will come around and pick hard wood at the week end :001_rolleyes:jon

nice job matt you get some interesting and cracking jobs to do. my week so far clearing brambles from bridleway and picking up the fly tip one weely bin full of free newspapers.college prospectos lazy s**s could not be bothered to deliver them so threw them in brambles. welding gauntlets and chain saw helmet with sheild down to stop being ripped to pieces. painting benches, and putting up a village sign. had to dig in solid chalk to get to depth or would need a step to look at notice board. doing a pagoda so will get photos before and after

I did, yeah. I left just before Christmas though, to graze pastures new.

Do miss that lot!

We've had Earp and his team do some interesting jobs for us since. They just did a Oak in Durweston on the rec ground as it was in serious decline. Its now at pollard height with plenty of growth points. As we said to the locals who wanted it doing its either kill or cure as it was 75% deadwood.

Cant beleive the stretch of trailway being surfaced at the moment. Walked upto the palisade fence n found two dirty great steamers in the middle of the unsurfaced section.:cursing::mad1: The apprentice an i are going to be going up a local stretch of trailway with marker paint and clickers to spray and count how many dog turds there are on each stretch of path and report our findings to the local rags complete with pictures to get the point across.
