I'd echo that

If you are doing PAID work then you need a pesticide PA1 PA6

ticket. Include in this storing pesticides- not sure about carrying pesticides though as the delivery man from masstock hasn't got one! In fact he doesn't even have the pesticides locked up- but hey thats another story.

Yeh, you need PA1 for handling so usually that includes transport.

 

Also to add is COSHH records needed, detailing what chemicals were used where, and a seperate record of chemicals in store.

Easiest way out is drill the stump for customer and advise them to go down or up the garden centre or DIY and get there own SBK or Round Up, like what has already been said they can use what they want - or - get your PA1 & PA6 and enter the world of paper chasing.

One other thing, when you fell the tree leave it high enough (2"/3") to take a thin slice off, this will then act as a lid to cover the holes drilled to accept the stump treatment. Either nail or screw it down or just put a weight on it so it can be removed to treat the stump again if needed.

A good tip is that rather than drill the stump- just run the tip of the saw round the cambium inside the bark making a circle on the stump- then pour roundup into this channel-

I like the idea of making a cap with a round of wood though- that's one I will use.

But as has been explained PA1 required and yes, you need to keep records and fill in your chemical records book otherwise you will have all and sundry throwing stuff about not having any records of where and when etc.

We all know its a pain but cover your a**e and do it correctly and safely and PPE of course............

I use SBK and also make a lid out of the last slice of the tree to cover the stump.

I find this works well and keeps the poison safe.

Yeah I keep records for all our spraying, it is a pain in the arse I agree but not as much as one of the powers-that-be wanting to check over my application records and not having it all up to scratch.
