stump treatment

Hi guys n girls am new to the sight, just passed my cs 30-31 the other day:001_smile: Have got a little job coming up where i am going to be taking down a couple of silver birch but the customer does not want the stump grinding out. Should i use a treatment like urea? to treat the stump to stop infection? if so could someone let me know where you would get it from as am trying to find it but am having trouble finding anywhere that sells it. Any help would be greatly appreciated as am hungry for knowledge. Many thanks in advance

If it is just two tree's i would use roundup stump killer.You can buy it in b&q,homebase any garden centre.

put a bit of unleaded on the live cambium that will kill it. and cheaper than roundup! just!

I've used the sbk vitax stuff a few times with good results, not expensive either.

Think you would find you need them anyway, regardless what strength they are or where you bought them if you are carrying out the works as a contractor.

If you buying the normal stuff neat/premixed from a garden centre you dont need to show a ticket. The Pesticides ticket is only required to cover your rear end if something goes wrong and the insurance company want proof that you have a relevant ticket. Otherwise every member of the public would have to be applying for PA1 and PA6. It would overrun NPTC.

Matt, there is not a problem buying it, its application of pesticides that you need a ticket for. As you say PA1 & PA6.

 

Edit; Private home owners can do as they like. If you are a commercial contractor carrying out works, you need a ticket to apply chemicals.
