HI TCARS ref wood used per month you said 3sqmt is that 3 1mt x 1mt bags mate we used now from oct to now 6 sqmt of beech and oak on our 16kw ero heat it runs 24 hrs per day thanks jon

 

Hi, no we don't use bags, we move a trailer which holds 1.6m cubed, up to the house about every 2 weeks, some times a bit less, sometimes a bit more but on average we get through 3m cubed a month. Over the next year or so we'll be doing a lot of building work and hopefully once we've sorted out insulation and installed a log boiler and accumulator we will need a lot less to heat the house.

1cube of dry seasoned mixed hardwood (95%oak at the moment) delivered in 5 barrow bags (0.2 cube each) is £100 here. Will be going up 5% next winter to take in to account increase costs of purchasing timber and rising fuel prices.

Thanks Davetaz and co for the continued feedback re pricing. Seems like the country has about the same prices on the whole ?

Anywhere from 70-100 quid per m3 with well seasoned hardwood firmly at the £100 end ?

I know a place locally selling for £135/m3 but not sure how much they sell ? It's premium quality firewood mind you.

I hope you guys with the shooters and vat issues have sorted out your differences.

Just heard of 1.5 tonne crate of Oak going for £200 which i was getting £70 for two years ago, so i guess I need to put my prices up!!!

I like the idea of a national average. We could be getting somewhere.

Done a bit of asking about and would say the average in Sandbach to Knutsford area is around 70-75 for a decent L200 load, roughly m3. Would be interested if you could do the same for an average price of nets. Big green nets with 20 logs in, and orange 50 by 40cm with around 12 logs in.
